BIG EAST preseason selections...

St. John's men's basketball team was selected fifth in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll, with two votes for first place. The Red Storm received the same amount of first-place votes as Georgetown, which was selected second in the poll. Meanwhile, freshman point guard Rysheed Jordan was chosen as the preseason R.O.Y. Junior guard D'Angelo Harrison was named to the First All-BIG EAST team and sophomore forward JaKarr Sampson was named to the Second All-BIG EAST team. Sophomore big man Chris Obekpa was listed as an honorable mention.

sounds about right, if and that's a big IF the johnnies can stay out of trouble. last year it was deangelo being suspended and now obekpa. coach norm roberts use to recruit character, not so much talent, and coach lavin has great charisma that he has used to recruit talent, but perhaps not so much character. this worries me, quite a bit. roberts got canned for not getting results but was the right guy for the job when st. john's was marred in scandal and humiliation. i have been a HUGE supporter of coach lavin, but there has been a disturbing trend of suspensions and transfers that you cannot ignore
