A Rivals.com 4-star power forward, who recently left his program, is in the process of transferring from that school. RedStormReport.com has exclusively learned that the Red Storm, who itself has suffered some recruiting setbacks lately, is in serious play for the dynamic freshman.
On Sunday, it was announced that Bronx, NY native Sidiki Johnson was no longer at Arizona. The 6’8” freshman had left the program with the intention to transfer. The decision comes two weeks after Johnson was suspended indefinitely for violations of team policy.
A source very close to Johnson’s recruitment says that the forward, who is back in New York, is weighing his options.
As far as why Johnson decided to transfer from the Pac-10 school, the source said, “He was too far away from home. He had a problem adjusting.”
Johnson made just three appearances for UA this season.
With regard to where Johnson may end up, the source said, “The obvious school is St. John’s but there are a host of schools interested in him.”
The source stated that they would be seeking a hardship transfer with hopes of Johnson playing in September.
